EASILY EDIT AND RESIZE IMAGES
USING (FREE) PIXLR.COM

Log on to http://www.pixlr.com/express.

Click on “Browse”, select the image you want to edit, and open it. (The Image stays on your computer so it’s super fast.)

Then click on “Adjustment” (bottom left). HINT: Clicking on the "Full Screen" icon on the upper right will get rid of all the pesky advertising.

Next click on crop, resize or any other operation, as required.

You're finished images should measure 1800-1900 pixels in their longest dimension. This will insure that they are of sufficient size, and quality to be able to be used in printed promotional materials where appropriate.

After you've finished editing your image, click Save.

Adjust the quality slider to keep the image file size under 2MB in size. (1MB is more than sufficient, try to stay in the 90’s on the slider)

Enter a new file name for the edited image and click save again. (I prefer to include the pixel and/or work dimensions somewhere in the file name. IE: Asian-holiday-1800.jpg or Asian-holiday-1800-16x20.jpg)

Choose a file location and click save once again.

Many artists are concerned that if they upload large images, they risk that image being downloaded and made into high quality prints without their permission.

Even though you've upload an 1800 pixel image, high resolution prints require over 250 pixels for every inch to be printed, and the largest images that actually appear on-line are limited to less than 600 pixels in their longest dimension. So, if someone downloads one of the largest images available, they will only be able to create a 2-3 inch, high resolution print from their download.
